This year, the AAFCS Student Unit is partnering with Feeding America and the Cleveland Food Bank to provide quality, hand-held can openers for Cleveland’s kids.  The food bank facilitates an outreach program for children who utilize government funded feeding programs through the week and have difficulty meeting their nutritional needs over the weekend.  Each Friday the students are invited to visit the food bank and collect a variety of nutritious food to use.  Along with this food, the food bank loves to send a can opener home with the children who carry home cans. Light-weight and easy to pack, this can opener project is an exciting opportunity for FCS professionals and classrooms from all over the country to get involved.
